This twin work was created as part of the Belgian Young Sculpture Prize. It was installed in both sites of the Sart Timan and Châtaigneraie campuses in Liège, allowing for a dynamic interaction between art, architecture, and the surrounding landscape.
The installation consists of two twin sculptures, each taking the form of a three-legged coffee (uns)table. This sculpture, almost functional, evokes a subtle or latent conviviality, suggesting a space where one could gather and share chilling moments. Beneath these tables, a carpet, also made of plaster, features a constructivist square motif, adding a geometric dimension to the whole. This choice of motif is not merely decorative; it creates a playful invitation to have a barbecue, serving as a plausible activation, while questioning the relationships between art, functionality, and social experience.
At the center of this assembly, the decorative floral arrangement typically placed on such structures has been replaced by a bouquet of spring onions, carefully laid on the glass plate. This substitution brings a new sensory dimension to the work. By emitting the scents of Alliums, the spring onions fill the exhibition space with fragrance, engaging visitors' senses in a unique way.
